HMO
Settlement Assistance
Managed Care Advisory Group (MCAG), a national expert in
providing MDL Settlement assistance to physicians, is
working with PCMA member physician practices to file for
and recover the maximum amount under the MDL Settlements
that are currently pending.
If you are interested in participating in this
Settlement, click here for the agreement and fax it to
(866) 747-8947. Jonathan Gadd our representative from
MCAG will call you with further details. Jonathan can
be reached at (800) 355-0466.
To date, these settlements have provided over $400
million in cash refunds to physician practices as well
as landmark changes in reimbursement. Only 30% of
physicians who are eligible for the settlements have
filed for the money owed to them.
Physician referral. The
Association office receives calls daily from members of
the public wanting to be referred to physicians in a
specific city or a particular specialty or
subspecialty. We also distribute to the public, free of
charge, the Pinellas County Medical Society's Membership
Directory, which contains the names, addresses, phone
numbers, and specialty of every Association member.
The PCMA has chosen
Gregory, Sharer & Stuartas the Pinellas
County Medical Association’s CPA. This is a significant
change in that, the PCMA wanted a CPA firm that could
not only offer specialized services to our non-profit
board, but one who had the breadth and depth of
experience to assist our physician members and their
practices.

Ongoing communications vehicles. Members can
keep informed of breaking news and developments in the
medical and legislative fields through our monthly
magazine, the PICOMESO, broadcast faxes, email as well
as membership meetings.
Access to CME programs.
The Association sponsors free CME programs necessary for
licensure.
Medicare
carrier liaison. Through the PCMA and the FMA,
physician members have a direct line of
communication with the managed care entities and
Medicare/Medicaid to iron out billing problems,
coding problems, and a broad spectrum of third party
difficulties. Let us know the problem; we'll see
that it gets on the agenda for resolution.
Media relations. The Medical Association is
a valuable news source to local electronic and print
media. Many highly exploitable situations are
dampened through contacts with Medical Association
spokespersons' statements. Periodic Editorial Board
visits by leadership maintain lines of communication
with local media.
Most importantly, membership includes: Advocacy in
the Florida Legislature and Intervention with
Government Agencies. If we don’t speak up for our
noble profession, who will?
If you haven’t taken advantage of these programs,
you’re losing valuable savings in both time, money
and services that directly benefit you, your
practice of your patient base. Renew you membership
today and encourage a colleague to join.
